Thomson Trots Out IP Switcher for NAB

For the 2012 NAB Show, Thomson Video Networks is introducing a new IP-enabled version of the Amethyst switcher. Thomson's booth will also feature the ViBE VS7000 platform for OTT and convergent TV services, together with solutions for MPEG playout and ATSC MDTV.Thomson's Amethyst Switcher now has IP inputs and outputs in addition to ASI interfaces. The new-generation Amethyst III Switcher is designed for switching between multiple 1+1 MPEG transport streams transported over IP networks, and to secure any IP stream in a headend video compression system. IP inputs and outputs can be managed through multiple GigE ports supporting bypass in case of power failure. The Amethyst III will be available for commercial deployments in June.
