Ericsson Tapped for Colombia National IP Net

Azteca Comunicaciones Colombia has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) as one of the network providers for the country's National Fiber Optic Project, part of the "Plan Vive Digital" program. The two companies plan to build out an IP network infrastructure to deliver broadband services to more than 397 municipalities in Colombia. The broadband services will be delivered using WiFi and point-to-multipoint wireless access.The deployment will include Ericsson's SSR 8000 family of Smart Services Routers; SmartEdge Multi-Service Edge Routers; the SPO 1400 family of Packet Optical Transport Platforms (POTPs); and Ericsson WiFi access points, controllers and management.
