The LL-580 Optical Splicing and Distribution Enclosure, one of the Diamonds judges' honorable mentions, is for the organization, splicing and interconnection of fibers in broadband, distribution and building entrance applications. Because it offers weatherproof field connectivity, it can be used for business service handoffs, MDU distribution and connectivity, cellular backhaul, and other commercial services. Patching and splicing, cutting/dropping of fibers, and managing wavelengths take place in a single enclosure. Top and bottom plates offer both conduits and grommets, making this a universal connectivity solution, AFL says.
The enclosure protects sensitive optical components from the elements and from vandalism. It is made of heavy gauge aluminum and offers flexible locking features. Additionally, the LL-580 houses and protects not only fusion splices and simple optical connector points, but also is fully compatible with LGX-based modules. It provides a means to access these components at the time of installation and during the network's growth cycle.www.aflglobal.comSee them at Cable-Tec Expo, Booth 1200Return to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
