The E6000 functions as an ultra-dense high availability CMTS, but its integrated architecture also has the capability to deliver the promise of CCAP - the convergence of high-speed data, voice and video service delivery from a single connector.

The Downstream Cable Access Module supports 256 QAM streams across eight physical ports. The Upstream Cable Module provides 96 receivers across 24 physical ports. There are 12 slots for UCAMs and DCAMs that can be allocated to achieve the U:D ratio operators want today and then reallocated to handle future U:D changes. Active components are upgraded via software.Live customer trials began in late 2012, and ARRIS announced its first deployed customer, Comcast, in June 2013.
