Called a well thought out and very powerful session border controller by one Diamonds judge, Perimeta is a pure software solution that can run on standard off-the-shelf hardware or can be virtualized in the cloud. It consists of two components: a signaling session controller (SSC) and a media session controller (MSC), which may be collocated or geographically dispersed around the network. Optionally, an integrated session controller can combine the functionality of the SSC and the MSC to provide a solution for smaller deployments.
Perimeta's distributed architecture allows operators to grow signaling border control (SBC), media border control, and transcoding independently based on the demand for each.
