According to ABI Research, broadband customer premises equipment (CPE) shipments at the end of 2013 are expected to surpass 147 million devices. The devices counted include modems, wired routers, and gateways. However, broadband CPE shipments are expected to grow to only 150 million in 2014.DOCSIS 3.0 CPE shipment is gaining market share. In 2014, DOCSIS 3.0 CPE devices shipped are expected to reach 50 million, accounting for more than 89% of cable CPE shipments. Total DSL CPE shipments by the end of 2013 are expected to be around 2% lower than total shipments in 2012.ZTE tops broadband CPE shipments in 3Q 2013 with a 13% market share. ARRIS jumped to second place after acquiring Motorola's Home Division in April 2013. Combined shipments of ARRIS and Motorola CPE represent 12% market share, overtaking Huawei which has 11% market share.
