At the NAB show, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) launched a video processing platform intended for high-density stream processing. The 2RU platform is designed to scale for DTH satellite, IPTV and cable applications. The first product on the new platform is the company's AVP 1000 Stream Processor.

The AVP 1000 is designed to process up to 512 transport streams of up to 300 Mbps each. It includes 10GigE interfaces, six option slots, dual power supplies and front-to-rear cooling with twin independent airflows. Content is secured via scrambling of eight separate CAs. It's also supported by the Ericsson Virtualized Encoding platform.
