Following on the heels of Winston-Salem and Durham, city officials in Raleigh, NC, ratified an agreement with AT&T (NYSE:T) to deploy gigabit Internet service via AT&T's U-verse with GigaPower. The fiber-based network will be designed to provide speeds of up to 1 Gbps. Similar deals, stemming from a North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) initiative, are pending in Carrboro, Cary and Chapel Hill.
