At IBC 2014, Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) is expanding its Videoscape Virtualized Video Processing (V2P) solution, intended to virtualize and orchestrate all functions required to produce and deliver multiscreen video.

Cisco V2P is designed to simplify overall operations by consolidating all separate video production lines for each screen and form of video into a single pool of hardware and software. V2P then "orchestrates" the common pool of hardware and software to deliver each individual form of video required for each screen. New workflows to deliver video in a new format or to a different device can be created selecting options in V2P's orchestration interface.

Cisco initially launched V2P in April, virtualizing and orchestrating transcoding infrastructures. Now the company has extended the number of video functions virtualized and orchestrated, including capture, advertising, security, packaging, playout and content delivery, as well as encoding.

In other Cisco news, A+E Network and Cisco say they have successfully integrated and tested the Nielsen ID3 tagging to help track viewing patterns for mobile screen services. Cisco's D9036 broadcast encoder has been upgraded for ID3 tagging. Cisco previously released the capability on its Videoscape AnyRes Live standard and HD software encoders.
