Elemental Technologies announced the expansion of its product line to support statistical multiplexing and management operations in large-scale video processing deployments. New capabilities are intended to support both traditional broadcast and multiscreen linear video delivery.

At NAB 2015, Elemental will demonstrate software-defined video solutions that integrate functions including statistical multiplexing, redundancy and multiscreen content delivery for unified headends for linear channel operations with video encoding, multiplexing and system management solutions.

Elemental Statmux is a software-based multi-codec, multi-resolution statistical multiplexer. It's designed to let operators to mix and match different codecs within their workflows and delivery networks to optimize bandwidth usage while unifying linear and OTT service offerings.

For 4K and unified headend strategies, Elemental Live encoders are designed to ingest 4K or HD content and transcode it into parallel HEVC UHD and MPEG-2 or H.264 HD and SD streams to create multi-resolution channel statmux outputs from one source.

In conjunction with the launch of Elemental Statmux, the latest release of Elemental Conductor management software is designed for large-scale live workflows. New capabilities include bulk actions to allow multiple channels to be stopped, started and edited simultaneously. It also features template-based channel configuration and secure authentication capabilities, as well as manual or automatic failover switching with user-defined conditions.
