Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) is starting its TWC Maxx upgrade process in the Charlotte, NC, area this week. The Maxx program involves upgrades to Internet speeds, video services and network reliability. TWC also plans to continue to roll out WiFi hotspots in the Charlotte area throughout the year.

The first phase of the Maxx upgrades in Charlotte, starting this week, is a move to an all-digital video lineup. Faster Internet speeds are expected to be available in the area this summer.

TWC Maxx will be available to all customers in the following Charlotte areas: Albemarle, Badin, Boiling Springs, Charlotte, Cherryville, Clover (SC), Concord, Ellerbe, Gastonia, Harrisburg, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Kannapolis, Kings Mountain, Matthews, Monroe, Mooresville, Rockingham, Salisbury, Shelby, Statesville, Wadesboro, Waxhaw and Weddington.

TWC first announced the Maxx upgrade program in January 2014. Since then, the program has been applied in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, and the Raleigh, NC, area. The NYC and LA upgrades are complete, and work is ongoing in the others. TWC's San Diego and Hawaii systems are scheduled for Maxx upgrades later this year.
