AT&T (NYSE:T) is launching its U-verse with GigaPower 1 Gbps Internet service in parts of Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Decatur, Newnan and surrounding areas. Packages start at $120 a month; single, double and triple-play bundles are available, as well as WiFi. On April 2, Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) announced plans to deploy a 2 Gbps service in Atlanta next month.

The telco's gigabit service is currently available in parts of nine markets: Atlanta, Austin, Cupertino, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Raleigh-Durham and Winston-Salem. AT&T also plans to offer the service in Charlotte and Greensboro, NC; Chicago; Jacksonville and Miami, FL; Nashville, TN; St. Louis; and San Antonio.
