UTStarcom (NASDAQ:UTSI) partner aioTV has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Patent 9,027,065 covers, among other things, the normalization of disparate metadata sources, associated packaging and video playback. It's intended to solve the common challenge for large content owners and MVPDs to enhance their middleware platforms and custom client experiences in order to deal with disparate metadata.

UTStarcom invested in aioTV in 2012 as part of a strategy to expand into value-added media and operational support services to sell to its core broadband infrastructure customers.
