Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) says its rollout of faster Internet speeds in the Dallas area is now 50% complete and remains on track to be completed before the end of the year. The upgrades, part of the ongoing TWC Maxx program, include Internet speeds up to 300 Mbps and upgrades to video service and network reliability. The network upgrades are also intended to pave the way for DOCSIS 3.1 once that technology becomes available. To date, TWC has invested $54 million in the Dallas area as part of the Maxx project, which started in February.
Starting this week, TWC Internet customers in DeSoto, Shoreview, Dallas, Farmers Branch, South Irving and Lancaster will receive the speed increases. Areas that already have the new speeds include Allen, Carrollton, Central Irving, McKinney, Arlington, Bedford, Dan Morton, Frisco, Lamar (N. Arlington), Mesquite, Betts Road, Irving, Plano, Richardson, Greenville, Garland, Matlock, Chenault, Wylie and Thornton.
Time Warner Cable has also rolled out more than 6,100 Wi-Fi hotspots in Dallas, with more slated to be added through 2015.
