EMCORE (NASDAQ:EMKR) plans to demonstrate its Medallion Series CATV Transmission System at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in New Orleans. The demo will feature EMCORE's 19-inch rack-mount Medallion Series 1,550 nm CATV Transmitter, Optical A/B Switch and CATV Fiber Amplifier.

Medallion Series Transmitters are available for direct or external modulation and are based on EMCORE's proprietary laser technology. EMCORE's lasers are designed for low noise, high optical output power and narrow optical linewidth. The transmitters use proprietary pre-distortion circuitry to combat CSO and CTB and allow for links up to 150 km. The Medallion is designed for SBS suppression levels of greater than 21 dBm through 40 km of fiber for RFoG and RF overlay in FTTx networks.

The Medallion 2100 Optical A/B Switch is intended for network protection and optical redundancy in CATV/FTTx networks. It features automatic switching to protect the network from upstream optical signal degradation.

EMCORE's Medallion 7000 Series CATV Fiber Amplifiers are designed for stable optical outputs over a wide operating temperature range. The Medallion 7100 is packaged in a 1RU housing, while the 7200 is housed in a 2RU enclosure and is now available with up to 64 ports of 21 dBm. Optional integrated WDM filters for RFoG or RF overlay in FTTx are also available.
