Korea Telecom has chosen Ericsson's (NASDAQ:ERIC) AVP 400 MPEG-4 HD system encoders to enable 20 new HD video channels over the next three years. The deployment is intended to reduce KT's encoding delay to less than 700 ms and also enable KT to deliver further future upgrades, including a pathway to UltraHD/4K video.

The Ericsson AVP 4000 is powered by the company's first propriety programmable video processing chip. The solution also includes Ericsson nCompass, designed for automated failure detection and switching, equipment configuration and scheduling from a single view.
