Broadpeak says its nanoCDN multicast ABR solution makes live HTTP video delivery to any device truly scalable by turning millions of broadband gateways, cable modems, WiFi routers or STBs into active components of an operator's content delivery infrastructure.

Leveraging home networks, operators can cost-effectively manage the consumption peaks of live multiscreen services for millions of simultaneous viewers using only a few megabits per second from their network, the company explains. Broadpeak has added several new capabilities and use cases to its nanoCDN multicast ABR solution, including zero latency, which reduces the latency that commonly occurs when video is streamed live to connected devices; this feature enables end-users to enjoy the same consistent video experience they are used to with IPTV. In addition to zero latency, operators can address live multiscreen peak issues for all networks and simply enable live multiscreen for networks that present a high bandwidth cost, like satellite networks. Other features, such as the pre-caching, the RTP retry and HTTP retry, ensure the highest quality of experience (QoE) for end users, Broadpeak says.
