Hammer Fiber, a New Jersey-based wireless and fiber network operator, has chosen its existing market in Rahway, NJ, to launch gigabit Internet service to residential customers. Hammer Fiber plans to offer its new GiG service beginning in early 2018.

Rahway will serve as the test market to potentially bring 1 Gbps service throughout Hammer Fiber's service areas. The deployment will be fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), though the company says it may eventually introduce a fixed wireless with FTTA combination in Rahway. The company offers Internet and VoIP service to both residential and business customers throughout New Jersey. Hammer has also recently released a linear TV service in the Atlantic City market.

"We are excited to be rolling out this new service. Gigabit Internet service allows us to enhance our position as an alternative Internet provider in New Jersey and beyond," said Brian Snyder, Hammer Fiber's director of corporate strategy. "We look forward to delivering unbelievably fast gigabit Internet speeds to Rahway, followed by other communities that we serve."

Hammer Fiber offers Internet, voice, video and data services in New Jersey, as well as carrier services in Philadelphia and New York, through both direct fiber and its wireless fiber platform, Hammer Wireless AIR technology.
