MobiTV has been selected as a Premier Partner of the NCTC, with eight new deals for MobiTV's software-based IP video delivery systems signed with NCTC member companies including MetroNet, DirectLink, Citizens Fiber, USA Communication, and Hickory Telephone.
MobiTV's software as a service (SaaS) MOBITV CONNECT Platform is designed to let operators upgrade their video delivery from traditional QAM to IP and blend on demand, live TV, catch-up TV, network DVR and recommendations. It's designed to reach streaming devices that customers already own, including Roku, Apple TV, connected TV devices, PCs, tablets and mobile phones. The SaaS-based model is intended to allow for real time enablement of new technologies like 4K/HEVC, cloud DVR, replay TV, and voice control, without the high cost of replacing legacy QAM set-tops in the home.
"MobiTV can directly address the needs of our operators who are aiming to stay competitive through an improved customer experience," said Rich Fickle, president and CEO at NCTC. "Our members may not have the resources of the big MVPDs to defend the current model or build solutions from the ground up, but they know that the transition to an IP-based infrastructure is highly beneficial. Live, on-demand and local content delivered through robust, consumer-friendly applications is the future of television, and MobiTV's end-to-end solution will get them there."
