UK

Anevia has partnered with Red Bee Media, formerly Ericsson Broadcast and Media Services, to deliver managed OTT services intended to enable any company, no matter its content or audience, to launch its own OTT channel within minutes. Anevia's Genova Live software video encoder is part of Red Bee Media's modular OTT platform, built on a microservices architecture that is operated in the cloud. The solution is a Dockerized OTT video streaming service for live events and was used by McDonalds to show all FIFA 2018 World Cup matches in its restaurants in Sweden.

Genova Live's containerized architecture features software encoders with 4K/UltraHD encoding and transcoding with a combination of CPU and GPU acceleration.

Israel

Israeli cable operator Hot is using Interra Systems' monitoring solutions - ORION and ORION-OTT - for its existing linear and new OTT services respectively. Nisko Technologies, Interra Systems' channel partner in Israel, facilitated the deployment.

Using ORION-OTT, Hot can monitor URLs published on origin servers from different locations. ORION can monitor the provider's live channels, including 4K streams, to flag errors and other anomalies before the content is fed to the downstream distribution stages. Coupled together, ORION-OTT and ORION will provide Hot with an end-to-end view and monitoring of its streaming as well as linear workflows.

Australia

Australian telecommunications operator Telstra and Broadpeak announced plans to jointly implement a solution to optimize video over fixed and mobile networks. The joint solution - which relies on Broadpeak's umbrellaCDN content delivery network selector and BkA100 analytics running on the Telstra networks, along with Telstra's intelligent device detection solution - is intended to increase video streaming quality optimization and efficiency for telco operators while providing the best possible quality of experience (QoE) for their end users.

Broadpeak and Telstra's solution is designed to detect device capability in real time and combine business rules defined in the umbrellaCDN to maximize the bits for quality curve of video delivered over the network. Codecs such as HEVC and LTE-Broadcast will also form part of the real-time decisions made.

Indonesia

Indonesian mobile network operator Telkomsel is powering its new MAXstream OTT service using Harmonic's (NASDAQ:HLIT) VOS360 Video SaaS. During the 2018 World Cup in Russia recently, VOS360 Video SaaS enabled Telkomsel to serve 550,000 concurrent viewers.

Telkomsel is using Harmonic's EyeQ content-aware encoding technology with VOS360 Video SaaS to increase bandwidth efficiency while maintaining QoE during peaks in viewership. Harmonic's VOS360 Video SaaS is integrated with technology from Accedo, enabling Telkomsel to deliver live streams on iOS and Android apps.

Finland

Finnish telecommunications operator DNA is deploying Teleste's Optimo transcoders in the delivery of live TV and video on demand (VOD) services in OTT networks. The deployment is intended to enable DNA to provide its customers with TV channels and streaming videos with 4K image quality on mobile devices.

Teleste Optimo transcoders are designed to manage and distribute TV channels, as well as Internet and video services, across DVB, IPTV and OTT networks. The transcoding technology is powered by AWS Elemental Live video processing software in order to provide real-time video and audio encoding for linear pay TV broadcast, as well as for live streaming on new media platforms.

Sweden

Com Hem Group in Sweden has deployed TiVo's (NASDAQ:TIVO) Personalized Content Discovery Platform on its TV and mobile platforms, including both Android and Apple iOS. Com Hem offers broadband, TV, play and telephony services to 1.45 million customers in Sweden, with its digital network covering more than half of the country's households.

TiVo's Personalized Content Discovery Platform consists of personalized search and recommendations and analytics capabilities. The platform's search capability spans content catalogs, including linear TV, video-on-demand (VOD) or over-the-top (OTT) programming. As a result, the platform is capable of recognizing users' subscriptions and can return only what is available to a specific user within that user's programming packages.

Spain

Spanish service provider Euskaltel Group has selected Technetix to supply its technology as a part of its network upgrades to DOCSIS 3.1. The equipment to be supplied to Euskaltel, R and Telecable will be Technetix' DBx modular and field upgradeable access platform. The deployment is intended to enable Euskaltel Group to upgrade to the fastest available speeds on its existing cable network.

Euskaltel operates in Northern Spain in the Basque Country, Galicia and Asturias markets where it operates through Euskaltel, R and Telecable. The telecommunications group serves more than 800,000 residential and business customers.
