Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) is rolling out two new residential voice features intended to untether the landline. With the MSO's new Answer Anywhere service, TWC Home Phone subscribers can have calls to their home ring through simultaneously to five different numbers, such as work lines or mobile phones, including CallerID information. The incoming call will be routed to whichever line answers first, making the first device to pick up the only line able to answer. Any voicemail messages will go to whichever of the VM-enabled devices picks up after the fewest rings. The Selective Call Acceptance feature allows users to manage a list of up to 30 10-digit phone numbers that will be allowed to ring through to the Home Phone to leave out unwanted callers. If a number is not accepted, the caller hears a special message notifying them that the party they are calling is not currently accepting calls. Both features are available at no additional cost as part of the existing Home Phone service.
