GENBAND announced the issuance of U.S. Patent number 8,600,006 for the company's one-step unified communications (UC) call transfer technology employed in its Call Grabber enterprise technology. Deployed within GENBAND's SMART OFFICE offerings, Call Grabber is intended to improve workforce mobility by enabling active call transfer between phones, smartphones, tablets and mobile devices in a one-step process that is undetectable to other parties on the call. GENBAND now holds more than 240 U.S. patents and more than 100 patents in other countries.

In other GENBAND news, Coms.com (LSE:COMS), a provider of hosted VoIP telephony to UK businesses, has selected several components of GENBAND's SMART SESSION portfolio. The solution combines GENBAND's software-based QUANTiX Q20 Session Border Controller (SBC) and GENView Real-Time Session Manager (RSM).
