According to Accenture (NYSE:ACN), consumer viewing of TV programming and movies over the Internet is growing. The demand for more devices and more online content, as well as consumers' willingness to pay for better access to content, is reshaping the media and entertainment landscape.

The survey indicated significant daily consumption of online content across a number of different devices and video screens. Some 25% of respondents indicated they intend to purchase a connected TV in the next 12 months. Another 11% intend to replace an existing connected TV, while 12% plan to purchase a tablet.

The survey also indicated that 44% of all respondents are viewing full-length movies and TV shows over the Internet on a daily basis, and 39% do so weekly. Demand was not hindered by the fact that 86% reported streaming interruptions and 71% noted slowdowns. Some 60% of respondents indicated they would be willing to pay for a faster connection, while 62% said they would pay extra for better quality.

More than 90% of all digital consumption still occurs in the home via a fixed line. Bandwidth constraints outside the home continue to limit mobile entertainment.
