Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) has been busy on the WiFi front, with a free hotspot solution for business customers and a roaming agreement with Boingo Wireless.

TWC Business Class will begin offering its TWC WiFi Hotspot solution at no additional charge to its Business Internet customers, across all TWCBC markets. The solution is intended to enable businesses to offer their customers WiFi access on virtually any WiFi enabled device, such as smart phones, tablets and laptops. The WiFi Hotspot solution includes a free WiFi access point installed and managed by TWCBC. In addition, the WiFi access point comes with its own Internet connection to ensure the business's private internet traffic is kept secure and separate, with no interference from its public WiFi internet traffic.

TWC and Boingo have launched bilateral roaming access for their customers, giving TWC Internet customers access to more than 100 Boingo locations, including 23 of the highest trafficked airports in the United States, while Boingo customers gain access to more than 35,000 TWC WiFi Hotspots in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Austin and Charlotte. The two companies - both members of the Wireless Broadband Alliance participating in the Next Generation Hotspot trials - also will complete a Passpoint-enabled integration later this year so customers can connect with their Passpoint-certified devices and account credentials.
