The SCTE has named 25-year cable veteran Dean Stoneback senior director of engineering for the Society. He will be responsible for the development of standards, recommended practices and training material, and will report to Daniel Howard, the SCTE's senior vice president and CTO.

Stoneback, who most recently was senior technical marketing manager with ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS), previously worked for Motorola and General Instrument. He holds several patents and has been active in the SCTE's Standards Program for more than 15 years.
