Atlantic Broadband has completed the acquisition of the cable system owned by Metrocast Communications of Connecticut. The transaction was announced on June 8. The Connecticut network passes nearly 70,000 homes and businesses across nine communities in the eastern part of the state. The system serves approximately 23,000 video, 22,000 Internet and 8,000 phone customers.

All MetroCast Connecticut employees will become part of Atlantic Broadband. The company plans to launch residential services such as TiVo (NASDAQ:TIVO) and Metro Ethernet for businesses.

With the completion of the transaction, Atlantic Broadband now has approximately 565,000 primary service units (PSUs) in five operating regions: western Pennsylvania, Miami Beach, Maryland/Delaware, Aiken, SC, and eastern Connecticut. Atlantic Broadband itself was bought by Cogeco (TSX:CCA) late in 2012.
