After more than a year of infrastructure work, MaxxSouth Broadband will unveil upgrades to its high-speed Internet and video services in the Mississippi communities of Forest and Morton. The company also plans to launch telephony services in the two markets at a later date.

The upgrades include faster downstream Internet speeds, all-digital video, more than 50 HD channels, 20 recently added channels, free access to VOD, and the ability to pause and record live TV using a DVR.

The upgrades come as MaxxSouth completes the process of interconnecting the cities to the company's main network via fiber-optic transmission lines.

"Forest and Morton will now be interconnected with 57 of our other service communities," said Tommy Taylor, MaxxSouth's vice president of technical and network operations. "This provides our system with incredible reliability, failsafe redundancy and increased quality."

The company is also opening a new customer service center in Forest.

MaxxSouth is a subsidiary of Block Communications, the same company that owns Buckeye CableSystem in Ohio.
