Midco is expanding its broadband services to areas of Minnesota that are unserved or underserved, with financial assistance from the state. Late last year, Midco was awarded two grants through the Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program, allowing the company to expand services in Wanamingo and Annandale in southern Minnesota.

"We're really excited because the expansion in Wanamingo might not have happened this soon without the Border-to-Border Grant," said Erin Hayes, Midco's director of Central Construction. "Now, we can provide the Wanamingo area with our full slate of services."

In early May, Midco will begin working on 26 miles of fiber stretching from Wanamingo to Randolph. Construction is expected to finish in July, with services slated to launch in September. The project is expected to pass more than 650 households and 70 businesses.

An expansion in eastern Annandale is scheduled to begin in mid-April. The project is expected to reach around 550 households and nine businesses near Bass Lake and Clearwater Lake. Depending on the weather, services are expected to launch in July or August.
