Cox Business now offers Cox Business MalBlock, a cloud-based internet security service designed to block access to known malicious domains. The service provider asserts MalBlock can help guard business customers from such Internet-based threats as malware, ransomware, phishing and botnet infections.

MalBlock covers devices connected to a customer’s LAN or WiFi network – including mobile phones, smart devices, and printers – without the need to install additional software on each protected device. MalBlock is designed to automatically uncover current and emerging threats. The threat database is updated every 10 minutes, says Cox Business.

Because the new service is cloud-based, Cox Business is offering MalBlock as an add-on to its existing Internet services that does not require the addition of hardware or software at the customer’s site. Adding the service does not require a site visit or downtime “in most cases,” Cox Business adds. Prices for the service varies by tiers, but the company asserts the cloud-based nature of MalBlock decreases the cost and complexity of its provision. Both the Premium and Standard tiers offer a portal by which customers can observe and customize protection activities.

“With Cox Business MalBlock, businesses of all sizes can rest more comfortable knowing that their network devices are being protected against malicious domain-based attacks,” said Steve Rowley, executive vice president, Cox Business. “Businesses are constantly bombarded by suspicious activity, so we wanted to provide Cox Business internet customers with an easy-to-use service that helps keep their network secure and running.”
