Comcast leverages Xfinity WiFi 6E gateway for 'Supersonic WiFi' rollout

April 6, 2022
The operator said the new service can support hundreds of connected devices simultaneously.

On April 5, Comcast announced that its Supersonic WiFi service, enabled by the company's recently launched WiFi 6E Gateway, is now available to Xfinity Internet Gigabit and Ultrafast customers across the U.S.

Comcast in a statement said its Supersonic WiFi offering is capable of "delivering speeds faster than 1 Gbps, 3X more capacity, and the speeds of the future – symmetrical Gigabit speeds – to support hundreds of connected devices simultaneously."

Billed as Comcast’s most powerful device to date, the new gateway supports three WiFi bands – 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the new, 6 GHz band. Together, these WiFi bands reduce interference and increase bandwidth in the home by 3X to support the massive influx of connected devices used by consumers today, claims the operator.

“Our Supersonic WiFi is made to do anything so our customers can do everything they want online, and our latest gateway enables key features like speeds faster than a gig to power a house full of devices – all at once,” said Sophia Ahmad, EVP and CMO, Comcast Cable.
