HITS Launches Centralized Headend Management Service
HITS, a business unit of the Comcast Media Center (www.comcastmediacenter.com), has announced HITS Central, a centralized headend management solution for cable operators. HITS Central is designed to allow cable operators to deploy a wide array of CPE without operating multiple conditional access (CA) management systems.
The CMC recently entered a relationship with Evolution Digital (www.evolutionbb.com). The relationship enables HITS Central to support Evolution's SD and HD digital-to-analog (DTA) converters as well as devices using CableCARDs with Conax (www.conax.com) DVB-CA encryption systems. HITS Central affiliates will also be able to deploy devices that use different encryption technologies.
Campus Televideo (www.campustelevideo.com), the nation's leading provider of private cable TV services to college and university campuses, will be the first cable operator to deploy HITS Central services using Evolution Digital HD DTAs with integrated Conax conditional access on its cable plant. Beginning with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, Campus Televideo will offer low-cost HD video services using Evolution HD DTAs to universities looking for a subscription-based solution.
Motorola Launches Hosted SDV
Moto's hosted SDV utilizes the same core components as a traditional SDV architecture. It's designed to facilitate the launch of advanced revenue-generating services such as HDTV, VOD, and future bandwidth consuming services such as 3DTV and interactiveTV applications.

Wowza Offers Unified Media Server
Wowza Media Systems' (www.wowzamedia.com) Media Server 2 is a high-performance Java engine that simultaneously delivers content from a single set of live or on-demand H.264 video or AAC/MP3 audio streams to multiple clients and devices, eliminating the need for specialized, client-specific encoders. The unified media server is designed to deliver content to any player or device, including Flash, Silverlight, QuickTime, and IPTV set-top boxes, as well as video-friendly mobile devices like Android and Blackberry phones, and Apple iPhone and iPad. Available up to 30 fibers, it can reach maximum span distances of 430 feet in NESC Light weather loading. It is fully compliant and tested to industry requirements such as IEEE1222, RUS 7 CFR 1755, ICEA640 and Telcordia GR20. In addition to aerial self support requirements, Ultra Light ADSS is fully compliant with standard all-dielectric duct cable applications. Ultra Light ADSS is available with factory tested support hardware.
UltraLight ADSS cable is available with Draka's line of optical fibers such as Enhanced Single-Mode Fiber, bend insensitive single-mode fibers, long distance fibers, and multimode fibers.
