SCTE OKs Ad Insertion Recommended Practice

July 18, 2014
The SCTE has approved one ad insertion recommended practice and two MPEG-4 standards. SCTE 130-9 2014, "Recommended Practices for ...

SCTE 130-9 2014, "Recommended Practices for SCTE 130 Digital Program Insertion - Advertising Systems Interfaces," is intended to provide an informative (i.e., non-normative) set of recommended practices for SCTE 130, a standardized and extensible message based interface defining a minimal set of cooperating logical services necessary to communicate placement opportunities, placement decisions, and placement related event data necessary for accountability measurements. Use cases are presented for placement decision messaging, information service messaging, as well as several advanced topics that warranted a more in depth discussion than was offered in the core SCTE 130 suite of standards.

SCTE 193-1 2014, "MPEG-4 AAC Family Audio System - Part 1 Coding Constraints for Cable Television," defines the coding constraints on MPEG 4 AAC, HE AAC, and HE AAC v2 (referred to collectively in this document as the "AAC family") profile audio for cable TV.

SCTE 193-2 2014, "MPEG-4 AAC Family Audio System - Part 2 Constraints for Carriage over MPEG-2 Transport," describes the carriage of MPEG-4 AAC, MPEG-4 HE AAC and MPEG-4 HE AAC v2 (referred to collectively in this document as the "AAC family") profile audio in MPEG-2 transport systems.
