Canadian cable operator Videotron tapped Alticast for software in its next generation of set-top boxes. Videotron's X8 multi-room HD PVR, designed to enable subscribers to simultaneously record up to eight different programs, is the latest upgrade to the operator's illico interactive TV service. It provides more than 1.7 million subscribers with live, on-demand and interactive services delivered to multiple devices in the home.

Alticast developed much of the software for the X8's multi-room PVR capabilities and interactive applications, as well as integration with Videotron's back-office systems.
