Marcatel deploys Fujitsu 1FINITY T310 transport blades for open line system between Mexico and Texas
Monterrey, Mexico based service provider Marcatel has deployed 1FINITY T310 transport blades from Fujitsu Network Communications to bring open line system capabilities to a fiber-optic network between Mexico and the U.S. The blades help Marcatel accommodate alien wavelengths on its network, according to Fujitsu.
Marcatel offers services via a fiber-optic network that connects Mexico, the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. The service provider conducted multiple field trials of the 1FINITY T310 as well as 1FINITY T300 blades before launching the deployment of the T310s on a fiber-optic network between Monterrey and McAllen, TX. Use of the blades not only will reduce costs but enables increased port density, lower power consumption, and smaller equipment footprint. The hardware also will enable Marcatel to boost transmission rates from the current 100 Gbps to 200 Gbps, a step the service provider plans to take early this year.
