Eoptolink announces sub-10-W 400-Gbps QSFP-DD and OSFP DR4 and FR4 optical transceivers

Jan. 31, 2019
Eoptolink Technology Inc. has announced immediate availability of sub-10-W 400-Gbps optical transceivers in the QSFP-DD and OSFP transceiver form factors. The 400-Gbps optical modules leverage Broadcom’s BCM87400 7-nm 400 Gbps 8:4 gearbox PHY device. The optical transceivers boast high performance and the best power efficiency available, Eoptolink asserts.

Eoptolink Technology Inc. has announced immediate availability of sub-10-W 400-Gbps optical transceivers in the QSFP-DD and OSFP transceiver form factors. The 400-Gbps optical modules leverage Broadcom’s BCM87400 7-nm 400 Gbps 8:4 gearbox PHY device. The optical transceivers boast high performance and the best power efficiency available, Eoptolink asserts.

Eoptolink’s DR4 and FR4 modules are fully MSA compliant and the capabilities of the gearbox and transceiver have been tested and verified together in 400G switches using the Broadcom Tomahawk 3 chipset. The transceivers support break-out applications with independent channel function for 4x100GbE to enable shuffle and aggregation applications using DR links. Eoptolink says it has demonstrated 10-km transmission, which provides additional margin to the required 2-km distance for FR4 transmission. This performance positions the optical module to support 400-Gbps LR4 applications when the standard in finalized.

“We are constantly improving the transmission performance of our modules to help our end customers,” says Richard Huang, CEO at Eoptolink. “We are delighted to be the first transceiver manufacturer to offer these low-power QSFP-DD and OSFP modules in high-volume production, thereby accelerating 400-Gbps adoption.”

The QSFP-DDs (EOLD-134HG-5H-M DR4 and EOLD-164HG-02 FR4) and OSFPs (EOLO-134HG-5H-M DR4 and EOLO-164HG-02 FR4) are currently sampling, with general availability expected in second quarter 2019. Eoptolink will showcase these new products at OFC 2019 from March 5-7 in San Diego.
