The VIAVI OLP-87 NG-PON2 is the first field test instrument designed for NG-PON2 deployments that enables simultaneous measurement of the individual downstream wavelengths used by NG-PON2. It combines a high-performance wavelength-selective FTTx/PON meter with pass/fail fiber inspection analysis into one portable unit. Low insertion loss, through-mode capability enables simultaneous power measurements of downstream and burst-mode upstream signals too.
Judge’s comment: “PON has the highest volume of deployment of any optical telecom system. Specialized instruments such as this are critical to the continued deployment of these systems. The special feature for this meter is its multichannel capability, which is indispensable for TWDM-PON systems.”
