Ethernet Alliance plans December Higher Speed Networking Plugfest, includes 100G Lambda MSA

The Ethernet Alliance has set December 3, 2018, as the starting date for its next Higher Speed Networking Plugfest at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, NH. The weeklong event is designed to enable Ethernet Alliance members, equipment manufacturers, test and measurement technology suppliers, and other members of the Ethernet ecosystem to evaluate and improve interoperability at port data rates from 25 to 400 Gbps. The Ethernet Alliance also revealed it has signed an agreement with the 100G Lambda Multisource Agreement (MSA) Group that will enable MSA members to attend the event as well.

The technologies evaluated within the December plugfest are expected to be based on both recently completed and soon-to-be-ratified IEEE standards, particularly IEEE 802.3bs and IEEE P802.3cd. In light of the agreement with the 100G Lambda MSA, technology pertaining to that group’s 100G-FR and 400G-FR4 specifications should appear as well. Overall, the Ethernet Alliance expects the plugfest to include Ethernet physical layer transceivers (PHYs), network interface controllers (NICs), switches, test and measurement platforms, and both optical and copper media at speeds of 25, 50, 100, 200, and 400 Gbps.

Our plugfests allow Ethernet Alliance members to more rapidly iterate on product development and confidently deliver multi-vendor-interoperable products that their customers can rely on from Day 1.”
