Anritsu adds 53-Gbaud PAM4 support to BERTWave MP2110A for QSFP-DD, OSFP optical transceiver testing

Anritsu Co. says it has upgraded the PAM4 analysis support capabilities of the sampling scope within its BERTWave MP2110A to 53 Gbaud. The new capability better positions the BERTWave MP2110A to provide accurate and efficient inspection of QSFP-DD and OSFP optical transceivers, the company asserts.

Anritsu Co. says it has upgraded the PAM4 analysis support capabilities of the sampling scope within its BERTWave MP2110A to 53 Gbaud. The new capability better positions the BERTWave MP2110A to provide accurate and efficient inspection of QSFP-DD and OSFP optical transceivers, the company asserts.

The 53-Gbaud PAM4 capability complements the unit’s existing 26-Gbaud support. The MP2110A now can be used for design and production evaluations of the QSFP-DD and OSFP as well as 26-Gbaud PAM4 optical modules such as the CFP8. This includes support of a variety of PAM4 signal measurements, such as TDECQ, as well as NRZ technology. Anritsu says the TDECQ measurements are adapted to the reference filter and equalizer to eliminate complex settings and the need to capture and correlate high-reproducibility measured values, as the company asserts alternative sampling oscilloscopes require.

Anritsu positions the MP2110A as an “all in one” test instrument for optical modules at speeds from 25G to 400G. It offers sampling speeds of 250 k/samples/s and an O/E module with a noise figure of 3.4 μW. The unit features a built-in four-channel bit error rate tester (BERT) and two-channel sampling oscilloscope to support bit error rate (BER) measurements, eye mask tests, and eye pattern analyses of optical modules.
