Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) said it has introduced Spectrum Business Internet Gig services in New York City with the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1. The services, which include a gigabit connection to small and medium-sized businesses, are now available in over 30 markets, which is more than half of Spectrum Business' service area. By the end of 2018, it will be available across almost all of Spectrum's 41-state service areas, says Charter.

With a starting price of $249.99 per month for new customers, Spectrum Business Internet Gig includes a modem, customer WiFi for businesses with lobbies or public seating, custom domain and email addresses, and cloud backup and desktop security software. Spectrum Business Internet also comes with no contracts, taxes or hidden fees, asserts the company, and features a 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee.

"Spectrum Business' state-of-the-art, fiber-rich network allows us to deploy dramatically faster business broadband speeds, including gigabit connections, broadly and rapidly," said Tom Rutledge, Charter Communications chairman and CEO. "As business demand for bandwidth and capacity continues to grow, our world-class network is best-positioned to meet these demands, today and into the future."

Earlier this year Spectrum Enterprise, a unit of Charter, announced an investment of more than $1 billion dollars in new fiber infrastructure with the purpose of increasing its national fiber-optic network's density (see "Spectrum Enterprise to spend over $1 billion on new fiber infrastructure this year").

According to Charter, Spectrum Business' priority is to deliver fast internet speeds to its service areas with no modem fees or data caps. It provides bundled products over its fiber-based network to promote productivity and growth among businesses throughout various industries
