Innovium sampling TERALYNX switch silicon for 12.8 Tbps throughput

March 22, 2018
Innovium, Inc., a provider of data center networking technology, said it has begun sampling its TERALYNX switch silicon for 12.8 Tbps throughput, while providing line-rate programmability and 70-Mb on-chip buffers. The TERALYNX also features its FLASHLIGHT analytics capabilities for visibility and telemetry, such as P4 In-band Network Telemetry (INT) support, as well as crucial extensions and latency of less than 350 ns.

TERALYNX coincides with PAM4 optics and gearboxes ecosystem availability, and will advance adoption of high-performance, efficient 12.8-Tbps based platforms at key cloud and OEM customers in 2018, says Innovium. Offering 128 ports of 100GbE, 64 ports of 200GbE, or 32 ports of 400GbE in one device, TERALYNX provides support for 10, 25, 40, 50, 100, 200, and 400GbE connectivity using 50G PAM4. It also has as much as 256 SerDes supporting 10 to 25G NRZ and 50G PAM4 IO speeds.

The device delivers two times the performance per watt, comprehensive IP forwarding, and scalable Layer 2 and 3 tables for IPv4, IPv6, and hybrid networks, Innovium asserts. TERALYNX also has line-rate programmability for future software upgrades, an enhanced QoS per traffic management feature set, and tunneling capabilities, including IP-in-IP, GRE, MPLS, VXLAN, and Geneve.

"Bandwidth demand in the data center continues to grow exponentially. Large data center customers are looking forward to adopting 12.8-Tbps switches and 400GbE connectivity to address their insatiable appetite for bandwidth," said Alan Weckel, 650 Group's founder and technology analyst. "We are pleased to see the sampling of Innovium's market-leading TERALYNX 12.8-Tbps data center switch. This is nicely aligned with availability of PAM4 based 200G to 400G optics and gearboxes to enable significant evaluation and adoption of the next generation data center architectures in 2018."

Innovium is headquartered in Silicon Valley, CA. Its TERALYNX product family supports 3.2-Tbps to 12.8-Tbps configurations.
