Coriant has introduced a new Coherent Multiservice Sled for the Coriant Groove G30 to improve the network disaggregation platform's (NDP's) capabilities. The 1.2-Tbps modular sled is supported by the optical transport systems vendor's most recent CloudWave Optics technology and features integrated photonics upgrades.

According to Coriant, its sled also uses the latest 16-nm coherent DSP to deliver the lowest cost-per-bit for 100G and400G interconnect services, and offers the following features:

· High system density to support 9.6 Tbps of capacity in a compact, modular 1RU, a capacity figure 2X that of comparable technology, providing opex savings as networks scale.

· Power efficient operations design that requires 0.16 W per gigabit.

· Programmable baud rate (30 to 70 GBaud), FEC (0 to 27%), and modulation depth (QPSK to 64QAM) to enable operators to cost-optimize and adjust all transport applications forspectral efficiency, necessary transparent reach, and low latency.

· 600-Gbps single wavelength transmission for data center interconnect and metro applications with up to 38.4 Tbps of capacity per fiber, as well as 400 Gbps up to 1,000 km, and 200 Gbps up to 4,000 km for long-haul applications.

Coriant says the Coherent Multiservice Sled adds operational value to the Coriant Groove G30's highly flexible, modular, and plug-and-play architecture, enabling pay-as-you-grow scalability and fast deployment. Additionally, it enables service activation and straightforward integration into data center, cloud, and telecom operational environments. The technology also accelerates upgrade to 400G over legacy DWDMinfrastructure, while eliminating forklift upgrades or complex flexible-grid ROADMs.

"The ability to easily and cost-efficiently scale remains critical for network operators as they struggle to keep pace with the explosive demand for optical interconnect capacity," said Tim Doiron, ACG Research's principal analyst intelligent networking. "Coriant's modular, high-density, innovative design has played a critical role in the Groove G30's increasing adoption across multiple customer segments, including global Tier 1 operators, the largest internet content providers, and leading cable/MSOs. These advances promise to further differentiate the network disaggregation platform and help operators to cost-effectively scale their optical transport networks."

Most recently, the Coriant Groove G30 NDP has been adopted by IP transit service provider Hurricane Electric and Russian internet exchange MSK-IX (see "Hurricane Electric rolls out Coriant Groove G30 for data center interconnect" and "Russian internet exchange MSK-IX opts for Coriant Groove G30").

Coriant will demonstrate the Coriant Groove G30 and new Coriant Vibe Series of Programmable Packet Platforms, along with it entire line of open, disaggregated, and software-driven technology, next week at OFC 2018 in San Diego.
