Coriant says it will supply its Coriant Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform to Russian internet exchange MSK-IX. The internet exchange will deploy the optical transport systems in its fiber-optic backbone network to scale capacity and increase the flexibility of its service mix, including data center interconnect.

Headquartered in Moscow, MSK-IX offers neutral connectivity services to more than 500 customers, including international companies operating in Russia. Its peering platform connects 10 cities to serve the needs of customers such as ISPs, search engine providers, cloud providers, cable operators, enterprises, and education organizations. Those cities include:

  • Moscow
  • St.-Petersburg
  • Rostov-on-Don
  • Stavropol
  • Samara
  • Kazan
  • Ekaterinburg
  • Novosibirsk
  • Vladivostok
  • Riga

Coriant asserts it won the contract based on the Groove G30's high density, low power consumption, configuration flexibility, and pay-as-you-grow scalability. "We selected Coriant as our technology partner for this project following rigorous testing and evaluation of competitive solutions," added Alexander Ilin, technical director, MSK-IX. "The Coriant Groove G30 platform met our stringent criteria for high-performance, efficient, and scalable transport, while demonstrating exceptional levels of flexibility with its highly modular and pluggable system design optimized for today's dynamic interconnect environment."

The award announcement is the second in as many weeks for Coriant, following the news that it will supply the Groove G30 to Hurricane Electric (see "Hurricane Electric rolls out Coriant Groove G30 for data center interconnect").
