NJFX touts route diversity across major interconnection points

The New Jersey Fiber Exchange (NJFX) has announced that it now provides interconnection to more than 1 million route miles (subsea and terrestrial combined), as well as more than 1 million square feet of global data center space in 240 countries. The resulting route diversity across major interconnection points provides clients with diversified connectivity options to important North American, European, and South American hubs that avoid legacy chokepoints, NJFX asserts.

"Route diversity is paramount to telecom providers. Our rich carrier ecosystem without recurring fees for cross connects goes a long way to further ensure these providers aren't single threaded and exposed," said Gil Santaliz, NJFX CEO. "We have demonstrated tremendous value to our customers with the ability to interconnect to major international subsea networks complemented by terrestrial networks in the U.S."

In September 2016, NJFX announced the Phase II opening and launch event of its carrier-neutral colocation facility, in Wall Township, NJ (see "New Jersey Fiber Exchange set to open Tier 3 by the Subsea colocation facility"). The "Tier 3 by the Subsea" collocation facility is positioned at a cable landing station just 60 miles from New York City and provides Tier 3 data center capabilities.

NJFX plans to improve on its route diversity with completion and expansion of the NJFX colocation campus. This site plan will add 48 acres to its footprint, and include a two-story 80,000 square foot data center and disaster recovery space adjacent to NJFX's existing facility.
