EXFO offers OpticalRF for RF interference analysis over CPRI

EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) now offers RF spectrum analysis over CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) through the OpticalRF application for its FTB-1 Pro test platform. The new capabilities aims to enable mobile network operators (MNOs) to quickly and easily locate all RF interference issues in fiber-based mobile backhaul and fronthaul networks.

EXFO says the OpticalRF application provides access to the RF signal through the digital CPRI link available at the base station, whether at the bottom of the cell tower or kilometers away as in a centralized radio access network (C-RAN) architecture. This ability reduces the need for tower climbs and thus maintenance costs, according to the company.

The feature set also shrinks time to problem resolution by enabling multiple users to connect, control, and collaborate via remote access from any smart device or laptop directly to the OpticalRF application. OpticalRF thus enables cell technicians to quickly and accurately identify critical interference issues such as external RF interference and internal and external passive intermodulation (PIM), EXFO concludes.
