Frontier deploys GPON in Hartford for business, residential services
Frontier Communications (NASDAQ:FTR) says it has deployed GPON fiber-optic network technology in Hartford, CT, to address the broadband needs of businesses and residents in the north end of the city.
"This announcement highlights our commitment to our customers, communities, and shareholders to deliver game-changing technology. Gigabyte [sic] Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology is Frontier's first commercial deployment in Connecticut. Our fiber network will enable businesses to expand their capabilities and competitiveness and enrich the lives of our residential customers. This is an exciting beginning for innovation in the Hartford region," said Debra Zampano, Frontier's Area General Manager for the region.
The GPON deployment in the northern part of the city follows similar installations in West Hartford, North Haven, New Haven, and Stamford.
"Frontier's investment in the north end of Hartford is another example of how broadband providers are driving the innovations in speed and access that are critical to the success of Connecticut's economy. Connecticut is fortunate to be able to offer nationally-ranked broadband service, through multiple private sector providers, to the state's employers and residents," said Oz Griebel, president and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance.
