Cross River Fiber to expand network

In a move to capture market share from existing backhaul systems, New Jersey-based Cross River Fiber plans to add another 50 miles to its network. The fiber-optic network and telecommunications solutions provider already operates a scalable network throughout its footprint, offering access to dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet, and other network services.

In a move to capture market share from existing backhaul systems, New Jersey-based Cross River Fiber plans to add another 50 miles to its network. The fiber-optic network and telecommunications solutions provider already operates a scalable network throughout its footprint, offering access to dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet, and other network services.

The expansion will connect more than 25 of Cross River's on-net data centers in New Jersey and New York to multiple subsea cable landing stations along the New Jersey coastline. This will allow the company to offer dark fiber transport and managed-services. The route design for the new infrastructure has already been completed.

With the completion of the addition, Cross River will take aim at legacy terrestrial backhaul systems, some of which have been in place for more than 20 years. The first phase of construction will create connectivity to existing, as well as future, subsea cable systems located in the New Jersey towns of Wall, Sea Grit, and Manasquan. A second phase is in place that will eventually continue to expand south into Tuckerton, NJ.
