UK gigabit broadband service provider Hyperoptic says it is now offering its fiber to the home (FTTH) services in Glasgow. The FTTH enabled service rollout will start with Glasgow Harbour, an urban renewal project in downtown. However, Hyperoptic says it currently is hooking up other parts of the city.

In addition to its gigabit service Hyperoptic also will offer its residential and business customers 20-Mbps and symmetrical 100-Mbps options, with broadband-only and contract-free products available as well.

"Hyperoptic chose Glasgow as its first Scottish city because of its thriving digital scene and the strong demand from residents," explained Tim Huxtable, national team manager at Hyperoptic. "We will be investing millions over the next couple of years in broadband infrastructure across Glasgow, with the aim of having thousands of residents and businesses connected within the next year."

Hyperoptic offers its gigabit FTTH services in several UK locales, for example London, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Reading, and Cardiff in Wales (see, for example, "Hyperoptic bring 1-Gbps broadband to London" and "Hyperoptic targets four more UK cities for gigabit broadband").
