Network-neutral colocation, data center, and interconnection services provider Colo Atl, says its customers have installed more than 6,000 dark fiber strands within its 55 Marietta Street facility in downtown Atlanta.

The dark fiber comes from a variety of providers, including Allied Fiber, FiberLight, Southern Telecom, and Zayo.

"Based on the demand we have seen, we recently installed additional 288 fiber cables diverse into the Colo Atl Meet Me Room," said Chris Bradford, regional vice president, sales and marketing, East Region for FiberLight, by way of example.

The increasing connectivity comes as Colo Atl expands the size of the Marietta Street facility. The company has added 6,400 square feet of space, bringing its a total of data center and colocation space to approximately 24,000 square feet (see "Colo Atl expands downtown Atlanta colocation facility").

"Colo Atl continues to meet the interconnection demands of service providers and enterprise alike, throughout the region," stated Tim Kiser, owner and founder of Colo Atl. "Increasing dark fiber availability, like our facility expansion, is intended to provide greater access to critical interconnection and data center services for the burgeoning service provider and network operator community in the Southeast region and we are proud to be building and delivering the products and services our customers need."
