Huawei deploys FTTB network for HanseNet in Germany

MAY 1, 2009 -- Huawei says it has successfully completed the first phase of a commercial fiber to the building pilot project for HanseNet in Hamburg.

MAY 1, 2009 -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (search Lightwave for Huawei) says it has successfully completed ithe first phase of a commercial FTTB (fiber to the building) pilot project for HanseNet in Hamburg.

HanseNet launched the FTTB project in June 2008; the first phase the following November started with 50 buildings. The second phase kicked off recently and will add fiber optics to another 500 buildings.

The FTTB network uses Huawei's MA5651G/MA5652G multi-dwelling unit (MDU) products, offering tenants high-speed broadband access based on VDSL2. HanseNet's network can support data rates up to 100 Mbps per user and upload speeds of 10 Mbps per user.
