Telefónica Germany will use the Coriant 8600 Smart Router Series and 8000 Intelligent Network Manager (INM) in an IP/MPLS-based upgrade of its mobile backhaul network, according to the systems supplier. The project includes the integration of the O2 and E-Plus network infrastructures.
"A reliable and agile backhaul infrastructure is key to delivering a high-quality mobile data experience for our customers," said Cayetano Carbajo, CTO, Telefónica Germany. "We selected Coriant for this important project because of their demonstrated track record in helping service providers modernize mobile network infrastructure to support evolving service demands. We need the advanced capabilities and features of the Coriant IP/MPLS router portfolio – including scalability to 100G and superior 1588v2 synchronization performance – as these will enable us to fully optimize network efficiencies and service performance across our converged network, from high-density aggregation sites to remote locations."
The 8600 Smart Router Series, which comprises diverse platform options under a common management system, is designed for mobile backhaul applications requiring 100G connectivity. The 8000 INM offers end-to-end network management support as well as visibility and control across the network. This capability includes automated service configuration and testing features.
